Every party should have a signature drink. Something you can make in a batch and have ready to hand to your guests as they enter your home! It should go along with the theme or the season. Well I have the perfect fall signature drink for all your fall parties and gatherings. Apple Cider Sangria! So simple, so delicious and the perfect aperitif to get the party started! It’s just apple cider, Apple Brandy and a dry white wine that you would drink on your own. Then just add some chopped apples and pears. Yum! Fall flavors in one refreshing glass!
As much as I am sad to see the warm long summer days go, I do love fall. That is if we get one here in Chicago, sometimes we head straight to winter! I love the cool crisp days, the color of the leaves, cozy sweaters, cute fall boots and not having to put a bra on when I take the dog out at night because I can throw a jacket on. Ahh, the little things! But, what I love most is the cozy fall flavors! Cinnamon, spice, pumpkin, apples, you got me. Sooo comforting! Well, that includes extending those same cozy fall flavors into your signature drinks.
This fall sangria is the perfect segway from warm weather to cooler weather. It’s not freezing out, so you don’t really want a hot drink, but you have consumed your weight in Rose’ all summer (or was that just me?) so it’s nice to incorporate some warm fall flavors into this delicious transitional sangria! It’s still light and refreshing but has a bit more oomph than your summer sangria. The spices in the apple cider and a bit of a kick from the apple brandy are the perfect pairing for the refreshing dry white wine.
If you are feeling extra saucy and like a bit of bubbles, top your glass with a dry Cava or soda water for an apple cider sangria spritzer! I like it still, but if bubbles are your thing, go nuts!
I will be making this drink for my upcoming book club re-boot, Wine Club, which is perfect for the themed signature drink! However, this sangria will carry you through to Thanksgiving if you want! You could even heat it in your slow cooker as we near those freezing temps! Just give this a try for your next shin-dig, or football viewing party, or girls night in, or whenever you want!
Happy Apple Cider Sangria Season!
Cheers,
Diane
