I love a party favor. Whether I am hosting at my house or planning a larger celebration. You should always have a take home for your guests. It doesn’t have to be anything elaborate, but something with a little thought and cute packaging goes a long way! I made these for my sister’s baby shower, but these would be great for any celebration or occasion, weddings, bachelorette, divorce…you name it! I obviously love a good party. However, I usually cringe when I get an invite to a party that ends in the word shower. I cringe even more when the word baby proceeds the word shower! Ha-ha, yes, I dislike showers (not literal showers, I like those). Typically, in the olden days, showers were held on Sundays, usually at someone’s house, games were played to win prizes you didn’t want. I mean, who cares how many jelly beans are in the giant plastic bottle, or how large the mom’s to be belly is. If you win, you get the giant bottle full of those delicious jelly beans! Don’t get me started on sitting around watching someone open gifts that they picked out! Any who, there seems to be a turning of the tides in showers these days. I think maybe because women are waiting to get married, thus waiting to have kids, so the showers are less about all the pomp and circumstance and more about the celebration and mingling with friends. I like it! That’s exactly what my sister’s shower was. No games, no opening gifts, no basements of some distant relative. It took place on Saturday afternoon, up on the roof of one of Chicago’s newest hot spots and the drinks and passed Hors d’oeuvres were flowing! So, I wanted to provide the favors for the fancy, fun baby shower. I wanted the combination of gold, teal and millennial pink (I am on the cusp). I was planning on having two favors for the guests. One, homemade sparkling rose’ gummies and the second French Macarons. Well, sometimes things don’t go exactly according to plan. The darn macarons got the best of me and won! I spent all day making two batches of macarons, not to mention all the time piecing together the little boxes and cutting the ribbons. Much to my dismay, I didn’t get enough of the adorable macarons for everyone to include as favors. So plan B, I was going to do cute little mini cupcakes packaged in the boxes, but apparently my sister was very much against the cupcake favors (after I had baked them) baby mammazilla? 🙂 I’ll give her a pass this time, saved by the hormones! Whatever, it’s still a cute favor idea for you all when planning your next celebration. The macarons are super cute too. I was able to get a few out of the batches that I gifted to all my friends! To be continued on the French Macaron post. The rose’ gummies turned out great though, they are super easy and I’ve got the from Kirbies Creations. You do need to do a bunch of batches though, I think I did about 5 batches to get 40 favors. You will also need to order your gummy molds. I did a combo of little bears and little roses. How cute are these! I got them on Amazon, the links will take you there. For the personalized tag, I went through Etsy, Weddings n Whimsy and was able to personalize to the baby to be’s name! Such a nice personal touch. The shower turned out great, the rose’ gummy favors were a hit and we all made it out without one game or witnessing one gift being opened! XoXo Diane
